With a degree in journalism and political science from Ball State University, my career in journalism has ranged from traditional, local newspapers to regional media outlets.
My first works appeared in student publications, including the Ball State Daily News, NewsLink Indiana and Ball Bearings Online Magazines, where I received awards and scholarships for my work, and advanced to paid leadership positions. While in university, I also worked for the Washington Post as a beat reporter, producing stories targeted to youth voters ahead of the 2008 election. I also interned for a local newspaper, called the Star Press, where I introduced multi-media aspects to the traditional newspaper format.
With a childhood dream working for The Seattle Times, ater college I returned to the metropolis of the Pacific Northwest, I landed a job as a reporter for the award-winning ABC affiliate, KOMO News, where I worked on stories for the web, TV and radio.
